Water Quality

System Flushing

  • The System is flushed twice a year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall. Watch for a sign by the ICRIA entrance 2-4 days prior to flushing. Flushing of the system reduces the settled iron in the system and reduces the "red tint" that occasionally can occur.

Rural Water Authority of Douglas County

Thunderbird is participating in this organization via an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with Grandview Estates Rural Water Conservation District and Louviers Water and Sanitation District.

This organization has been formed to monitor and help plan for the future water supplies necessary for rural Douglas County. The RWADC generally meets online, on the 4th Wednesday of each month, via streaming or phone-in. To attend visit Douglas County Public Notices (opens in new window)(opens in new window)(opens in new window)(opens in new window) and search Special Districts for "Rural Water" to access the current agenda, and online link or phone instructions (which will probably be the same from month-to-month). Also, if the 4th Wed of November is the day before Thanksgiving, then we will meet on the 3rd Wednesday of November. We don't plan to meet in December.

The Board is also meeting with, and monitoring the progress of, other organizations and individuals involved in developing sustainable and renewable water supplies (or generally sources other than wells) in the region. Our goal is to consider participation in the projects and acquire resources that will provide the best benefits to the residences served by Thunderbird Water.
